You’ve booked an engagement shoot (yay) here are my tips and helpful hints to get you on your way to feeling ready to rock and roll for your shoot!

what do i wear?

Wear what you would feel comfortable wearing on a date, you want your partner to look at you like the tasty snack you are, you also want to be feeling gorge. Please steer clear from wearing large or loud patterns, fluro colours and anything with a large logo. Please avoid wearing hats and sunglasses, I want to see your beautiful faces!

If you want to get your nails done, now is a good excuse as any, I love getting a shot of your engagement ring on your lovely hand.

Please wear comfy shoes. We will most likely be walking to different spots here and there on beaches or through the fields/woods. No shoes is totally ok too!

Weather

I like to shoot outside in natural light, this means we are at mercy of the weather. If it is chilly, please bring a cute jacket or a cosy blanket you guys can snuggle into. Your comfort is key. If it is looking like it will rain, I will contact you before your shoot and we can re book.

I shoot at sunset, when the light is golden, soft and yummy! We will cruise around a location for about 1 hour. I like to shoot out west where the sunsets are best and have locations for the beach and forest and fields. If you have a different location in mind, please let me know.

Please arrive on time, so we can make the most of the light.

Portraits

Its going to feel a little weird at first and that’s totally normal! Trust the process and when in doubt, laugh (no one ever looked bad when they smiled)

I’m gunna go right out and say it, physical expressions of affection photograph really well. Pick her up, run through the sea gulls, spin her around, run your hands through his/her hair, hold your partners face, tell them how special they are to you, tell them how weird this is, squeeze them, kiss them, kiss them on the neck, shoulder…. you get the drift.

I will give you some direction and things to do but I know that every couple is different and I love that. These photos are for you and to reflect who you are together. If something doesn’t feel right, shake it off and move around until it does.

Above all else and this is my number one rule for everything, be yourselves and have fun. If you are romantics, be that, if you are goofy, be that! There is no wrong way :)

what happens next?

You will receive your photos in an online link 2-3 weeks after your shoot. You can download, print and share to your hearts content!
